The Redwood Project is a nonprofit initiative to strengthen national cybersecurity by fostering real-time intelligence sharing between the private and government sectors. It was founded in 2023 in the redwood forests of California, a nod to the Manhattan Project, and comes in response to the growing cyber threats posed by state-sponsored actors and their proxies.
The Redwood Project enhances U.S. cybersecurity by fostering collaboration between private companies and government agencies. It brings together influential organizations across multiple sectors to develop comprehensive solutions to cyber threats. By sharing intelligence and leveraging expertise from both sectors, the Redwood Project addresses vulnerabilities in critical infrastructure, making the nation's cyber defenses more resilient against foreign threats.
We aim to achieve measurable results in strengthening national cybersecurity. Our initiatives are organized into key workstreams:
● Workstream 1: Expand the Special Government Employee (SGE) program to facilitate communication between the government and industry, enabling better decision-making.
● Workstream 2: Create proactive strategies to disrupt cyber adversaries targeting national economic interests through collaboration between government, cybersecurity experts, and private partners.
● Workstream 3 (Operation Dynamo): Establish a voluntary partnership for businesses to collaborate with government entities, sharing threat intelligence to bolster collective defenses.
● Workstream 4: Introduce legal protections (safe harbor provisions) to encourage businesses to engage in cybersecurity without fear of legal liability.
● Workstream 5: Provide cybersecurity support to smaller companies to strengthen the entire supply chain’s resilience. Redwood Project was founded to create a sustainable future for our planet. We believe that by providing eco-friendly products and services, we can make a positive impact on the environment and the world.
In addition to our core workstreams, the Redwood Project is leading the charge in:
● Identifying Critical Weaknesses ("Ball Bearings"): Identifying key vulnerabilities in national security.2)
● Threat Intelligence Sharing: Promoting information exchange between government, private industry, and cybersecurity experts to enhance national cybersecurity.
The Redwood Project emphasizes public-private collaboration, leveraging the expertise of leading companies to strengthen U.S. cybersecurity. It also promotes intelligence sharing, ensuring companies are well-equipped to counter cyber threats. The initiative's broad approach across industries and its focus on building robust partnerships mark a new era in cybersecurity resilience, safeguarding businesses, national infrastructure, and consumer trust.
